Valerie Bos
Wellington based artist Valerie Bos has been exhibiting with Paul Nache since 2007/8. She has is mostly self-taught with her formative years as a painter in Gisborne in the late eighties early nineties.
Valerie’s approach to painting explores aspects of the human condition; the interrelationship between people, the spaces people create for themselves and forces that drive their energies. Inspiration comes from the various scapes she moves through: land, social, psychological and visual, as well as drawing on literature, mythology, and art history. Valerie is predominantly a narrative painter and more often than not this narrative unfolds during the process of drawing and painting. More recent works have introduced abstract elements.
Valerie was born in 1963, Palmerston North, New Zealand (of Dutch decent). Her works are held in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia and Singapore and in public collections such as the Tairawhiti Museum Collection and the Sir James Wallace Arts Trust.
