Oliver King
Oliver King was born in 1975 in Wellington, New Zealand. He is a Master of Fine Arts (First Class Honours) and a Master of Arts in Arts Management (First Class Honours) from Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design, Auckland, New Zealand.
He writes: “My research into intersectional theory explores being white, straight, male and privileged alongside notions of masculine identity, gender, sexuality within the current political climate. What can be learnt about masculine identity, the way it manifests itself through the autobiographical?”
In 2013 he was awarded the Premier Award, Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Awards and was a finalist in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 3D (2018), Wallace Art Awards (2017), National Contemporary Art Awards (2016) and NZ Painting and Printmaking Award (2014).
He currently lives and works in Auckland, New Zealand.
